Well since posting the last segment of the blog, we lazed around a little (Mez watched some CSI:NY saying "been there" every five seconds) and then made our way out to Wayne Gretzky's Restaurant and Bar. Upon arrival we were given a choice of either the restaurant or bar area which we decided the bar so that we could watch the numerous live sports on offer. M ordered "The Great One" burger which came with a number 99 toasted into the top (The aforementioned players number which no other player in the league is allowed to use since he retired) and S had the southern fried chicken with mash and veg. Both were excellent, but the main attraction was the two live hockey matches being shown on the screens.
Aside from the hockey paraphernalia scattered around the room (including a bench made out of sticks) there was a signed Michael Jordan shirt and other signed shirts from other teams/players. This was also a chance to sample some of the local beer as well as our first real experience within a North American bar, both of which were pleasantly surprising.
For those interested in the score of the game we watched (Who am I kidding, only Jordan really cares!!) The local Toronto Maple Leafs got a sound beating by the Philadelphia Flyers 8-5 and when we left the Calgary Flames were getting a 3-0 thrashing by the Minnesota Wild.
In other news, we've abandoned the trip to Niagara for tomorrow (not sure if Mez had already said) and are instead going on Sunday having booked tickets this evening on a tour run out of the local hostels. The reasoning behind this is that the weather for tomorrow looks absolutely appalling and we also have a few places left to see here in Toronto that will be closed on a Sunday. This means tomorrow is a stop off at the local market (one of the best 25 in the world according the the guide book) and a tour of the Brewery District and whatever else jumps out at us!
Oh, a little aside from the main happenings, Steve has once again been mobbed by a group of people saying that he looks like comedy film actor Seth Rogan. This group were following us around the Hall of Fame and then turned up at Gretzky's where they accosted Steve for a photo!! He is not really impressed by this rather unflattering comparison!!
